Packaging REA for NixOS
Nix users want bit-for-bit inputs. Inside a personal NixOS config, `packages/rea/` shows how to pin `rea-agents`, Ghidra, and related engines with published digests and offline checks — extract the packaging idea, not the whole rice.
What it is. A WTFPL personal NixOS configuration containing a focused packages/rea/ set: npm artifact integrity, runtime lock projection, Ghidra release ZIP sha256, JADX engine pin, and tests against owned fixtures.
Relation to REA. Packages the CLI for Linux x86_64 lab use; deliberately avoids treating the package as a persistent MCP server registration into arbitrary agents.
Workflow. Update as a dependency change: verify npm release → regenerate runtime lock projection → refresh engine hashes → run offline tests. Do not accept mismatched hashes.
Evaluation. High craft for Nix folks; not a turnkey flake for everyone. Also note similar community packaging experiments in other dots repos.
Compliance
Personal packaging for owned lab workflows; quote packaging files, not unrelated dots.
Takeaways
- Pin digests; never spoof engine versions.
- Personal configs ≠ supported installers.
- Pair with doctor after the package builds.
