macOS: Ghidra native decompiler missing (12.1.4)
If doctor --provider ghidra fails on Mac with native_decompiler missing, you are often hitting a packaging gap — not a broken npm install.
What happens
Ghidra 12.1.4 PUBLIC distributions commonly ship native decompiler binaries for linux_x86_64 and win_x86_64 only. On macOS, REA’s doctor can report the decompiler OS folder empty/missing. Upstream REA refuses to auto-build that native tool for you.
What to do (community recipe)
- Confirm JDK +
GHIDRA_INSTALL_DIRwith absolute paths. - Build the optional decompiler from Ghidra sources using the documented
make ghidra_opt(or current upstream equivalent) on your Mac toolchain. - Copy the resulting
decompilebinary into Ghidra’sos/mac_x86_64/(ormac_arm_64/as appropriate) layout. - Re-run
npx -y rea-agents@latest doctor --provider ghidra --json. Pair with launch diagnostics from related issues when the GUI/headless wrapper also misreports.
Exact make targets move with Ghidra versions — verify against Ghidra’s own build docs for your tag. This site will not paste proprietary plugin cracks.
